DVD Synopsis

The youngest child of the family often has the most problems -- so why should things be different for the Prince of Darkness and his offspring? Satan (Harvey Keitel) is considering retirement, and is pondering which of his sons should take over the family business -- ambitious Adrian (Rhys Ifans), strapping Cassius (Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr.), or Nicky (Adam Sandler), an accident-prone demon who prefers to stay in his room playing his favorite heavy metal tunes. When Satan decides to stay on for another 10,000 years, Adrian is outraged, and leaves Hell to go to New York, where he and Cassius attempt to round up enough souls to vote Satan out of power. Satan, understandably upset, sends Nicky to bring Adrian and Cassius back home, but Nicky finds life on Earth is more complicated than he expected. Things don't get any easier when he develops a crush on Valerie (Patricia Arquette), a good-hearted mortal woman. Little Nicky also features Michael McKean as a city official trying to put Nicky behind bars, Kevin Nealon as Hell's gatekeeper, Rodney Dangerfield as Satan's father, Robert Smigel as the voice of Beefy -- a talking dog who is Nicky's guide on earth, Allen Covert as Todd -- Nicky's new roommate, and Peter Dante and Jonathan Loughran as a pair of metalheads who dig Satan. Jon Lovitz and Reese Witherspoon play cameo roles, and Regis Philbin and Ozzy Osbourne appear as themselves. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Editorial Review of DVD

Adam Sandler's son-of-Satan comedy arrives on DVD via New Line's Platinum Series. The overall treatment is good, but it's all targeted directly at Sandler fans. The picture is a good widescreen anamorphic transfer with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Colors are bright and sharp, particularly in the sequences in Hell. The sound is a Dolby 5.1 presentation, which is underused, but crisp and clear nonetheless. Delving into the extras, viewers first find a pair of commentaries. The first one, from Sandler, writer Tim Herlihey, and writer/director Steven Brill is strictly for diehard Sandler fans, as the self-congratulating tone of the track will raise the ire of anyone else. The second track is hosted by Michael McKean and features a number of cast members, including Clint Howard, Henry Winkler, and Ozzy Osbourne. Also featured are 20 deleted scenes. Some of these are extensions or alternate takes of existing scenes, while others are completely new. While some are interesting when seen in the context of the film, was it really necessary to include an outtake reel of the director's efforts to get two dogs to mate? Viewers may enjoy a 30-minute documentary on the making of Little Nicky. More interesting is a 17-minute look at heavy metal music, featuring interviews with Gene Simmons, Ozzy Osbourne, and Zakk Wylde, among others. As previously stated, if you're an Adam Sandler fan, your ship has come in. For everyone else, all the extras in the world won't save this DVD from being viewed as the devil's work. ~ Jeremy Brown, All Movie Guide

This is Adam Sandler at his most twisted sense of humor. I loved it myself :). Little Nicky(Sandler), is the "nice" brother of the 3 Sons of The Devil. His 2 crazy and mad with power lust brothers break out of Hell in an attempt to do things on Earth that would allow one or the other of them to Take Over as the new reigning king of hell.
So sweet Little Nicky is sent upwards to bring them back. He is helped in this attempt by a talking dog with a lust for the ladies.
I thought this movie was Funny As Hell ! Pun Intended :)

This is one of the funniest movies I've EVER seen.
Really makes fun of the 80's hard and black rock.
Very irreverant humor.
