Ted Kotcheff directed this low-key suspense drama, which gets a handsome if modest presentation on DVD. Winter People has been transferred to disc in letterboxed format at a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, with the image also enhanced for playback on widescreen monitors. The audio is presented in a Dolby Digital Surround mix, with an alternate French-language soundtrack in Dolby Digital Mono. The feature has been closed-captioned in English, and also features optional subtitles in Spanish and French. The disc features no additional bonus material beyond the film's theatrical trailer, but the quality of this presentation should be enough to satisfy most fans of the film. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
