DVD Synopsis
Mark Wahlberg stars in one of his first features as a hoodlum drug dealer from the wrong side of the trackswho falls in love with Nicole Walker, an upper-middle-class high school girl (Reese Witherspoon). In this psycho-drama (with the emphasis on psycho), Nicole happily loses her virginity to her first love, but, when she begins to doubt the relationship, his tenderness turns to violence, as he stalks and terrorizes her and her friends and family. The girl's father never trusted him in the first place, but his reservations about his daughter's first serious boyfriend are interpreted as Oedipal paranoia, until the boy and his drug-dealing, date-raping buddies besiege the overly fortified house in a twisted attempt to win back Nicole's love. The Seattle setting juxtaposes a grunge rock underworld with an over-privileged suburban household, and includes a very sexual ride on a roller-coaster. And yes, former underwear model Wahlberg appears shirtless several times. ~ Laura Abraham, All Movie Guide
James Foley's psychological thriller Fear comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include production notes, cast and crew biographies, and a theatrical trailer. The superb picture and sound make this disc worthy of recommendation for genre enthusiasts, as well as fans of Wahlberg and Witherspoon. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

Not a bad movie at all. Seemed to start off somewhat slowly but definitely turned into a great thriller. Marky Mark was a total creep.

What begins as an innocent romance turns to deadly obsession when a charismatic young man sets his sights on Nicole Walker, a 16-year-old girl who always dreamed of being swept away by someone special--someone who was strong and sensitive and cared for her more than anything else in the world. At first Nicole is mesmerized by David, a polite, respectful--yet sexy--charmer she meets at a "rave" party, having slipped out for a wild night with her thrill-seeking best friend Margo. But then Nicole catches a glimpse of David's dark side, and her dream becomes a nightmare. When she tries to break free, her family is forced to draw together in order to confront David's determined, vicious attempts to take her back. Good movie, thrilling.
