I really liked this movie, I know some of the users on here disliked it a lot but I really enjoyed the story, the acting was good, the music was good. If you're a sci-fi fan then you'll have to look into this. I really liked it.

This movie was terribly boring and not at all exicting. I love some sci-fi but this movie was terribly predictable and not worth the watch.

I went into this movie with no idea of what to expect. I had not heard much about it but thought the premise sounded interesting. This is not the typical movie I like to watch but I am glad I did.
The underlying plot of the movie is a team of scientists are on their way to the sun to "jump start" it back up and to save the world. This movie could have easily become another Armageddon or Deep Impact or sorts...but even though it is a save the world plot line it is so much more. I have no idea if the science of this movie makes any sense but I was able to suspend my belief in reality to go along with this movie.
Sunshine has special effects to boot just like many other movies...but the special effects seem to be placed in the movie to support the movie...not just to have some eye-popping scene to impress the audience without any real reason for the plot. Also, I absolutely loved the soundtrack to the movie.
One thing that stood out about this movie...is the characters in the movie. Rather than having some larger than life superhero types trying to save the world, the characters are more realistic in their portrayals. There is no sudden kung-fu fighting that takes place in the movie. Each of the characters have their own flaws but as a group they understand what the primary mission at the end has to be even if it means their own demise. That is what makes them a hero in the movie. The movie does take a bit of a swing to left field about 3/4 of the way in. Anyone who watches the movie will know what I am speaking of. But even with the lesser quality 20 minutes or so when the horror genre is brought in to the movie, I still went away from this movie feeling delighted that I had taken the opportunity to watch it.

Freddy Kreuger in Space (spoiler alert!)
What a disappointment this was! As a matter of fact, I won't even spend a lot of time reviewing it because the wounds are still too fresh! The movie starts off beautifully-- a space crew has to re-start the sun by detonating a nuclear bomb into it. The cinematography is gorgeous, the acting good, the cast interesting, and the music beautiful.
We watch the crew interact with eachother, face obstacles, etc. All is well for the viewer. AND THEN. . . gosh. . . (spoiler alert!). . . a crewmember from the other ship (failed mission) impossibly shows up in this ship. And, he is now insane, homicidal, and seemingly supernatural.
So, this becomes Friday the 13th in Space. Freddy Kreuger (definite resemblance) in Space.
Before the monsterman showed up, I thought this was a great movie and thought that this one would be one I kept. Not anymore. Truly a letdown.
Cillian Murphy was wonderful. As always.
