I was really surprised by this movie. I was expecting a romantic comedy, but it is actually primarily a drama centered around a little girl that has lost her mother. It made me cry! The character development was also much deeper than I expected, with the exception of the lead male character. All in all a very well done movie.

I adored this movie. Abigail Breslin will break your heart as the orphan who still misses her mother.

Critics damned this with faint praise. I find this to be a keeper. The onscreen romance was believable and well done. You like all the characters. Without giving away, more, there are good ongoing themes and issues that run through the movie and keep you engaged.

Weak American remake of a far, far superior German movie. The only thing inferior about the German version is the title: Mostly Martha. Otherwise, the presentation, the acting, the overall feeling of this movie pales seriously by comparison to the European version. Very superficial and just not as engaging as a whole.
