DVD Synopsis
This documentary is part of a reprised series of films that were produced to prepare America for the hardships involved in the World War II war effort. The programs were meant to both inform and inspire. This episode is a celebration of the American fighting man, on land and in the air. Historic film footage and photographs show the planes that won the air war in action, along with the fates and fortunes of those serving in the trenches. Personal accounts of pilots and infantrymen, along with commentary by military historians and journalists, give the viewer an insight into America's first real look at the combat missions in Europe and the South Pacific. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide
Editorial Review of DVD
This WWII documentary, narrated by Clark Gable, comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. There are neither subtitles nor closed-captions on this release. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, but this inexpensive Goodtimes title should be worthwhile for anyone with an interest in the subject matter. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide
