Shim Hyung Rae's monster movie Reptilian (also known as 2001 Yonggary) plays like a tribute (a low-budget, grade-Z tribute) to the classic Japanese monster movies of the fifties. General Murdock (Dan Cahman) must stop the destructive dinosaur before the president attacks it with nuclear weaponry. Enthusiasts of old Godzilla movies, as well as all those who miss the glory days of Mystery Science Theater 3000, will certainly enjoy this unintentionally campy romp. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

It's a major disaster when Reptilian storms across on DVD. The film is presented in a lackluster 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer that can only be called "passable." While the colors and black levels are usually bright and solid (with slight bleeding throughout), overall, there is a softness in the image which is intrusive -- and most likely due to the film's low budget. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround as well as Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, both in English. The 5.1 mix on this disc is apt with a few directional effects creeping out of both the front and rear speakers. While this isn't the most aggressive soundtrack ever created, it is free of most all distortion and hiss. Also included on this disc are English, Portuguese, and Spanish subtitles. The extra features on =Reptilian are extremely meek, including a profile on the main monster, a short photo gallery, some pithy production notes, a theatrical trailer for the film, and some bonus trailers for other Columbia DVDs. ~ Patrick Naugle, All Movie Guide
