DVD Synopsis

Marine fighter pilot Sykes (Cyril O'Reilly) and his three fellow pilots are on trial in a military court, accused of massacring innocent civilians in a fiery raid against South American drug smugglers. Sykes makes a plea bargain that keeps his men from prison, but in court, the politically motivated General Prescott (Alex Cord) reneges on the deal and sends them all to prison -- Sykes for life. The pilots escape the clutches of the feds, only to wind up as passengers on a commercial 747 flight that includes Prescott. Sykes and his men commandeer the plane, asking for $100 million in ransom. But they weren't counting on feisty flight attendant Kelly (Kim Oja) putting up quite the fight she does with a coffee pot, or the delivery by Stealth aircraft of Matt Marshall (Ice-T) and his elite counter-terrorist unit. Viewers should fasten their safety belts and place all weapons in the safety mode for landing.

Editorial Review of DVD

The letterboxed DVD version of Air Rage boasts a B-movie industry rarity: a wall-to-wall commentary by the director, Ed Raymond, aka the prolific Fred Olen Ray, joined at the microphone by low-budget action veteran Cyril O'Reilly, who plays the anti-hero in the film. Once you hear Raymond describe how lackadaisical standards can get when pressed by deadlines and budgets, you begin to understand how corner-cutting takes precedence over coherence and competent acting. Which is to say, it's more fun listening to the commentary track than it is to watch the movie without it. It's a little like watching an episode of Mystery Science Theater, but with someone with insight who is laughing with you instead of at the movie. Text bios of the stars, Spanish and English subtitles, motion image scene-selection frames, and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound give this unpretentious B-movie a deluxe digital feel. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide
