DVD Synopsis

This bargain-basement budgeted sci-fi horror movie pays a kind of tribute to 1930s sci-fi serials such as "King of the Rocket Men." It is set just after the Frog Wars of the preceding film Hell Comes to Frogtown (1988). Following that terrible battle, the Froggie mutants were placed on the special Frogtown Mutant Reservation. The story begins as the leader of Frogtown, Zar abducts Professor Tanzer and forces him to perfect a terrible serum that will turn the Earth's remaining population into croaking, fly-eating amphibians. Zar then sends out an android version of Commander Toady (a character who died in the first film) to bring in some subjects to test. Toady's first catch is the muscle-bound Rocket Ranger Jones who is injected by the lovely Nurse Cloris. To save Jones from a terrible fate, fellow rocketeers send out the courageous Ranger Sam Hell to save them. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Editorial Review of DVD

Reptiles rule in the sequel Return to Frogtown. York Entertainment's work on this 1.33:1 full-frame transfer is subpar at best. The image often sports an ample amount of grain and dirt, along with washed-out colors and only mediocre black levels. While the image for Return to Frogtown may be passable for a 3:00 a.m. viewing with beer and popcorn, overall this is a very poor effort that will disappoint fans. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono in English and is on the same level as the video presentation. The mix is flat and unimpressive without a single directional effect to be found. Hiss and distortion pops up during many scenes with only a passable amount of clarity in the mix. No alternate subtitles or soundtracks are available on this disc. Frog lovers will be saddened to hear that there isn't a single extra feature to be found on this disc. To add insult to injury, York Entertainment hasn't even included a title screen or even scene selections. This B-movie has been put on a Z-grade DVD, making it one of the worst efforts in DVD history. ~ Patrick Naugle, All Movie Guide
