This fourth entry in the Halloween franchise focuses on Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris), the niece of ubiquitous masked killer Michael Myers (George P. Wilbur). Jamie tries to lead a normal life, but she can't escape the vengeance of her "funny uncle," who once more escapes from the loony bin. The only echo of the original Halloween -- and a faint one at that -- is the casting of Donald Pleasence as Dr. Loomis, who manages to get through his "We must stop him!" scenes as if mouthing the words for the first time. The scariest holiday of the year sees the return of homicidal maniac Michael Myers in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. This original release by Anchor Bay is presented in 1.85:1 non-anamorphic and features solid colors and deep black levels. There is a minimum of dirt and grain in the image, and while a small amount of edge enhancement creeps up in the picture once in a while, it's never very intrusive to the viewing. The audio is presented in a new Dolby Digital 5.1 mix in English. The Surround effects on this soundtrack are used quite often, though not as expansively as one might hope. All aspects of the dialogue, effects, and music are free of any distortion or hiss. Also included on this disc is a Dolby 2.0 soundtrack in English. The only extra features available on this DVD include a theatrical trailer for Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and a bonus trailer for director John Carpenter's original fright film Halloween. ~ Patrick Naugle, All Movie Guide
