DVD Synopsis
A handsome and successful bachelor is taken aback when his dream girl asks him to be the "maid" of honor in her upcoming wedding in this romantic comedy starring Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. Tom (Dempsey) and Hannah (Monaghan) have been best friends for years. Though all the hard times, Hannah has been the one constant in Tom's life, and the one person he knows he can always rely on. When Hannah leaves for a six-week business trip in Scotland, Tom is surprised to realize how truly lonely he is without her. Life just isn't the same without Hannah around, so the moment she returns, Tom resolves to ask for her hand in marriage. But apparently Hannah's trip wasn't all business, because upon returning home Hannah announces that she has gotten engaged to a dashing Scotsman and will soon be starting a new life overseas. She's convinced that Tom will be thrilled for her, and wants him to play a crucial role in the wedding. His spirits crushed but his love for Hannah stronger than ever before, Tom reluctantly agrees to be the "maid" of honor so that he can prove his love in no uncertain terms and convince her to call off the wedding before true happiness slips through his fingers. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Some people say this is a remake of My Best Friend's Wedding but I say NO Way. This is sooo much better. Nice romantic comedy, great chemistry and Patrick Dempsey is just adorable!!

I really enjoyed this movie and watching Patrick Dempsey sre did not hurt. I thought this was a huge improvement over Harry Met Sally - similar but better.

I agree with Janice, I thought it kinda sucked too. It is very forgettable. I dont even remember how it ended, it was that bad. I just watched it and passed it on while it was still wishlisted here on Swapadvd. Dempsey is a great looking man so he was worth my time. Michelle who?

Really sweet movie about a casanova who loses his girl-pal only to realize life isn't the same without her, and so he tries to win her back. Predictable, but very nicely done.

Because this movie has Patrick Dempsey & Michelle Monaghan in it, it's not as awful as it might be. Otherwise it's not very original since it's basically a reworking of When Harry Met Sally - clueless NYC rake discovers that his female best friend is actually the one & only for him - but the changes aren't an improvement. Much of the 'humor' depends on making fun of people who are pretty nice & don't deserve it - the fat bridesmaid, the skinny geeky guy at the gym who just wants to be one of the gang - or the same inaccurate satires on the rich we've seen a jillion times before (the hero's snobby WASP parents, the mom of whom is Jill Clayburgh, who deserved better). Then there's a long boring sequence in Scotland with stereotypical Scotsmen throwing large objects. It's not the worst romantic comedy I ever saw (that would be New in Town), but I can't recommend it, except maybe for watching Dr McDreamy.
