DVD Synopsis

Everyone's favorite archeologist adventurer dusts off his hat and trusty whip for yet another globetrotting trek as Indiana Jones returns to the big screen nearly 20 years after racing for the Holy Grail alongside his father in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). Harrison Ford reprises his role as the iconic, snake-loathing screen hero in a sequel that also finds Karen Allen returning to the series for the first time since 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark. Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, and Shia LaBeouf round out a cast that also features Cate Blanchett in the role of villainous Russian operative Agent Irina Spalko. Steven Spielberg calls the shots on a script penned by David Koepp (and adapted from the screen story by executive producer George Lucas). ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

If you liked the originals, then you will like Crystal Skull. A little cheesy, a little far-fetched but for a true Indiana Jones fan it was a popcorn munching adventure with all the old punch-lines and excitement.

While this movie had its "Indy" moments, on the whole, it's hard to believe Spielberg made this. What a huge disappointment. The plot was too complicated causing the goal and what was at stake to be utterly lost in what felt like fight/chase scenes far too much of the time, rendering those scenes pointless. Spielberg has a large catalog of movies that prove he's a master story teller, but this ain't one of 'em. I feel no desire to ever watch this again, which makes it unique in the Indiana Jones franchise.

This was the much awaited return of a childhood movie hero- Indiana Jones. As with many sequals, this one falls prey to it's own success. The story is a bit lackluster and the adventure, chase and danger scenes are reminiscent of the other Indy movies. Although I would not say it was a bad movie, it had a few things about I did not like. I was a more than a bit shocked to hear cursing from the main characters that I do not remember hearing in the previous movies. It was not needed and certainly could have been toned downed for younger viewers. Indy and Marion deal with more issues today's society is troubled by and it handled in the same irresponsible way as real life. Art immitating real life. I did enjoy it, for the chance to revisit with an old friend, but the PG 13 rating is much warrented. I do not recommend it for younger kids or for families that are more caustious with what they allow their children to watch.
