This is juvenile doper humor at it's best. Reminds me of my younger doper dayz. To further emphasis the juvenile spirit, my teenage son quotes lines from this movie.
The interaction between Seth Rogen (process server/stoner), James Franco (friendly pot dealer) & Danny McBride (pot supplier) make this movie. Craig Robinson as a drug enforcer working for Gary Cole (as the local druglord) is hilarious. Good movie for the kid in all of us.

Pineapple Express is just not up to par for Rogen and Goldberg. It is interesting as and Action/Stoner movie which is uncommon, but the comedy just wasn't there. Franco was funny but he couldn't save it. I had high expectations (no pun intended) and it did not meet them.

One of the best movies I have ever seen! This is how to make an action movie that keeps my attention. I laughed like crazy so I am sure I caused myself to miss many other funny goings-on as well. This writing/production team keeps upping the ante with their dialog - especially any scene that has Seth Rogen. Ive been a fan since Freaks and Geeks so its grand to see him going somewhere with his talents.

When your under the influence everything's funny. Really really funny. You don't need an excuse to laugh at anything and everything, hilarity just naturally occurs. So of course, Pineapple Express must be ridiculously funny to watch high. But sober?...not so much.
The problem with Pineapple Express is that the writers seem to have forgotten to put any jokes in. They simply assume that pot equals comedy. Pot can certainly generate comedy (see Animal House) but pot for pot's sake is not comedy.
A lot of comedies take the low road and go for the foulest kind of joke imaginable (see Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay), a lot of comedies use low humor brilliantly (see Blazing Saddles), but Pineapple Express does neither. Along the "mad-cap" adventures of a hapless pair of stoners, nothing funny happens. The writers set their heroes on the path to comedy and then leave them to wander around in circles. Seth Rogen and James Franco do their best to create lovable, doofy, perpetually buzzed heroes, but in the end, the characters have nothing funny to do.

Hilarious journey of pothead and dealer wanted by the bad guys. Fun to watch. Great action scenes.
