For almost a decade, HBO's Def Comedy Jam brought the best and freshest African-American standup comics into people's homes. This disc collects some of the best performances from the show's rich history. The disc offers a standard full-frame transfer. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are neither subtitles nor closed captions on this release. Even though there are no supplemental materials of any consequence, the performances by king of comedy Cedric the Entertainer, movie star in the making Martin Lawrence, George Wallace, and others make this a highly enjoyable disc. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide
