DVD Synopsis
When Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) reluctantly moved to the perpetually overcast town of Forks, WA, and set out to carve a niche for herself, she assumed it would be one similar to the low-profile social position she held back in Phoenix. First on the list of surprises was the unfamiliar attention from the male population of her new high school; second, the attention from one male in particular: Edward Cullen, Vampire (Robert Pattinson). Before long, the unlikely soul mates find themselves in a passionate relationship with a variety of significant setbacks, including Edward's special-needs diet (he doesn't eat humans, but Bella's scent inspires a nearly impossible to harness bloodlust) and the human girl's mortality. Though things proceed relatively smoothly at first (Edward even introduces Bella to his adoptive vampire family), a visiting vampire clan consisting of James (Cam Gigandet), Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), and Laurent (Edi Gathegi) catches Bella's unique scent and threatens the young couple's budding, if dangerous, happiness. James, known for his powerful tracking ability, becomes obsessed with making Bella his next victim. I found that this movie was hit and miss, especially when it came to the acting of the two main actors(Stewart and Pattinson). I found both were a bit lacking as far as the variety of emotions and expressions they used. They both seemed to use the same 4 facial expressions throughout the entire movie(Stony faced, I'm about to cry, I'm about to laugh, and I'm about to throw up). Some scenes were incredibly well done and even moving, while other scenes were uncomfortable and didn't quite strike the right chord. Stewart's stuttering portrayal of Bella wasn't quite how I imagined the character to speak. Overall I'd say this movie is worth watching at least once, as the story is still pretty good(as different as it may be from the book, true) and Pattinson makes a valiant attempt at an American accent. This movie is one of the best I have seen in awhile. The acting is superb- not just from Stewart and Pattison, but from the others as well. You really feel the emotions and connections in the movie. Movies Similar to "Twilight [Blu-ray]"
