DVD Synopsis
Inspired by the true story of the United States Marine who volunteered to escort the remains of a nineteen year old soldier who was killed in Iraq to his small hometown in remote Wyoming, Taking Chance stars Kevin Bacon in the feature directorial debut of Oscar-nominated producer Ross Katz. Lance Corporal Chance Phelps (USMC) was just nineteen years old when he was killed during active duty. Pro-war? Anti-War? Republican? Democrat? It makes no difference when you view this incredibly inspiring film as long as you are an American. A truly moving work. I've always thought of Kevin Bacon as something of a journeyman, turning in decent performances, but the emotional depth he brings to this role is a defining moment. What an amazing movie. I blubbered most of the way through it. The patriotism, sacrifice, respect shown in this true story kept me choked up throughout the whole movie. I have always been a staunch supporter of our military guys and gals but even more so after this. Be sure to watch the bonus stuff. It is good. I highly recommend this movie and gave it 5 stars.
