Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Tom Petty, Al Pacino, and many more entertainment industry luminaries teamed up on September 21, 2001, for this live telethon raising funds for the families of the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The focus of America: A Tribute to Heroes were 21 musical performances, interspersed with speeches and personal histories commemorating the lives lost at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania some ten days prior. A week after September 11th, 2001, stars and musicians gathered together for America: A Tribute to Heroes. This telethon is presented in 1.33:1 full frame and looks very nice. While some imperfections abound (the quality is not always perfect due to the rush to get the special filmed), overall this is a fine image and a virtual record of one of America's darkest days. The sound is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo and sounds apt for the production it's supporting. The songs, by artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, U2, the Dixie Chicks, and Willie Nelson, all sound very clear and concise.
