DVD Synopsis
At a secret laboratory in the Mojave Desert, a renegade scientific unit of the U.S. military is working on a top-secret project that involves breeding poisonous rattlesnakes that develop a highly contagious virus. But enemy terrorists, in a botched effort to steal the snakes, destroy the lab, releasing the rattlers into the wild. Years later, an earthquake unleashes hordes of aggressive, virus-infected rattlesnakes on a remote town. As the viral epidemic begins killing town doctor Henning's (Treat Williams) friends and family, corrupt military officials plan to blow up the town with a massive firebomb to cover up the incriminating source of the diabolical disease. With the Stealth plane carrying the bomb headed Dr. Henning's way, and with the town littered with dying citizens, Henning has to find a way to save the day -- and perhaps the planet. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide
Director Fred Olen Ray informs the viewer right off in his generous wall-to-wall commentary that his nom de plume credit on Venomous -- Ed Raymond -- is a play on his real first and last names. But don't be too hard on the director's seemingly limited cleverness; he has, after all, fashioned an attention-holding, hokey B-thriller that plays much better on the widescreen digital disc than it does on the full-frame VHS version. The Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, which was okay on tape, is a highlight of the disc, making full use of the subwoofer and the rear speakers. The disc includes the trailer, a photo gallery of a few production stills, text director, cast filmographies, and assorted subtitles. The best feature is Ray's, or Raymond's, commentary, which is like sitting next to a very laid-back filmmaker who isn't afraid to point out mistakes or to reveal how certain shots were obtained on a limited budget and shooting schedule. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide

watch out for those snakes! This was actually a good story line, I got it for my son and enjoyed the show.
