Even when you're the King of the Jungle, you don't want to forget your anniversary with your significant other, as taught in this direct-to-video sequel to the 1999 Disney animated adventure Tarzan. Tarzan (voice of Michael T. Weiss) and Jane (voice of Olivia d'Abo) are soon to celebrate their first anniversary together, and as the two find themselves looking back on the ups and downs of the past year, Jane decides she wants to get something special for Tarzan to mark the occasion. But Jane has a hard time deciding just what the special gift should be, and even their animal friends Terk the Gorilla (voice of April Winchell) and Tantor the Elephant (voice of Jim Cummings) are short on gift ideas. As it turns out, it's Tarzan who has the big surprise for Jane, as he plans something special to show how he's come to understand the life she left behind to be with him. The jungle will never be the same in Disney's animated sequel Tarzan & Jane. The film is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen (labeled as 1.66:1 on the package) and looks excellent. The colors are all very bright and thrilling while the black levels appear to be uniformly solid. Without any discernible defects hindering the image, this is a great looking transfer that should please fans and kids alike. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and French. While this soundtrack may not be a rumbling, bustling directional effects-filled mix, overall it works very well (except when the songs kick in) within the confines of the film. Also included n this disc are English subtitles and captions. Tarzan & Jane features a few supplements for the younger crowd, starting off with a set top game titled "Build Your Own Treehouse" which allows the viewer to build Tarzan's house from the ground on up. Also included on this disc is a narrated story titled "Tarzan & Jane's Adventure Builder," a few promo spots for some other Disney movies, and a short "commercial"-like spot for RadioDisney.com. ~ Patrick Naugle, All Movie Guide
