DVD Synopsis

The best-seller by sentimental novelist Nicholas Sparks becomes this teen melodrama set in a coastal North Carolina port. Cocky, popular high school student Landon Carter (Shane West) is the big man on campus at Beaufort High School until a hazing incident leaves a fellow student paralyzed. Sentenced to community service and membership in his school's drama club, Landon is forced to seek help from Jamie Sullivan (pop singer Mandy Moore), the conservative, religious, plain-Jane daughter of the town's Baptist minister (Peter Coyote). When the two students begin to fall in love, Landon struggles with the drop in popularity that his new friendship brings, while Jamie is forced to deal with her strict father and a secret that she's keeping from her schoolmates. A Walk to Remember, which co-stars Daryl Hannah, is the second of Sparks's novels to make it to the big screen after Message in a Bottle (1999). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Editorial Review of DVD

Pop singer Mandy Moore stars in her first feature film, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' young love tearjerker, A Walk to Remember. The film is presented in its original anamorphic widescreen 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Both English and French soundtrack options are available, along with English, French, and Spanish subtitles. Special features include two feature-length commentaries. The first is an amusing commentary by Shane West, Mandy Moore, and director Adam Shankman. The trio discusses cut material and gives entertaining insight into filming the movie in Dawson's Creek territory. The second commentary is a more serious narration by novelist Sparks and screenwriter Karen Janszen who talk about the differences between the book and the movie and the film's overall themes. Moore's "Cry" music video is included with the film's theatrical trailer and cast and crew filmographies. After listening to the first commentary, it becomes obvious that outtakes and deleted scenes should have been added to the disc, as they would've been a great addition to this too-sparse package. ~ Terri Clark, All Movie Guide

A wonderful love story to watch with your teenager. There are lessons in going beyond appearances and seeing someone for who they are and not just being in the "in" group. It is a beautiful love story, showing again that love is not easy or equivalent to sex. A definite must-see for teens. A well made movie with a cast that has chemistry.

Mandy Moore and Shane West do an awesome job of bringing this movie to life. Two high school students from different walks of life.Jamie (Mandy Moore)from the smart group;self-confidence,and doesn't seem to care about the opinions of others.Landon (Shane West) from the popular group;careless and reckless with good looks.Do to events outside high school, soon find themselves becoming friends. This friendship turns into an unconditional love story. You find yourself cheering them on through their great struggles. The changes in themselves and in their relationship. This is a movie you want to watch over and over again.Have a movie night with your family and friends. This is a must see movie!!!

I rarely cry at movies, but this one will make your cry. It is the story of young love and heartbreak. The actors are great in their rolls and the storyline is so touching. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to see a great story about love, but has the ulimate reality of loss.

This is one of the most touching and heart warming love stories I have watched in a long time. It is a story of young love and the heart-breaking event that changes their lives. I cried more in this movie then any other. I also recommend all the other movies that have come from the author Nicholas Sparks. They are all wonderful!
