Oliver Stone served as executive producer for this made-for-cable drama that looks back at the events of March 30, 1981, when John Hinckley, Jr. attempted to assassinate then-president Ronald Reagan. Richard Crenna stars as Reagan, Christian Lloyd plays Hinckley, Richard Dreyfuss portrays Secretary of State Alexander Haig (who infamously proclaimed himself "in charge here" after the shooting) and Holland Taylor appears as Nancy Reagan. Richard Dreyfuss stars in the made-for-TV film The Day Reagan Was Shot, based on the true life 1981 assassination attempt on president Ronald Reagan's life. The film is presented in 1.33:1 full frame and looks to be in very good shape. While there are a few minor flaws to be found in the image (including a few soft colors and a small amount of grain), overall Paramount has done fine work on this transfer. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in English. Since this film was made of national TV and not a theatrical release, this soundtrack is not surprisingly focused only in the front and center speakers. While directional effects and surround sounds may be lacking, the dialogue, effects and music are all very clear and free of distortion. No alternate subtitles or soundtracks have been included on this disc.
