Sterling Entertainment, considering it's a smaller company, has always produced discs that have excellent picture quality. =The Progeny continues that tradition, even though it's not quite as good as previous titles. The image fluctuates from detailed to soft, which may have been intentional from director
Brian Yuzna. Yet these moments don't necessarily have anything to do with the story, so it could be the authoring of the disc. Still, it looks very good, and is presented in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1, though it doesn't use an anamorphic transfer. The sound on the other hand doesn't live up to the Millennium Series title expectations. As with previous special editions from this company, they only offer a two-channel stereo soundtrack. While it does use the front right and left speakers liberally, it lacks any surround effect that would have greatly enhanced the experience of the film. The extras on this disc are exceptional by any standard. While some of the supplemental features on this disc are a bit silly (the interviews with alien abductees is ridiculous, though it does relate to the story), the audio commentaries, biographies, and interviews are well presented. A very interesting element is the ability to see the storyboards of a few scenes and the final product, which can be toggled using the multiple angle button. ~ Trent Fordham, All Movie Guide
