Doug Liman directs Matt Damon in the action hit The Bourne Identity, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1, while a French soundtrack has also been recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1. Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by the director, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, and a music video from Moby. Those with a DVD-ROM drive can access additional games and extras. This is a fine release for what it is, but a different edition is available with the same extras and a widescreen transfer.
