Two generations of radical bikers face off in this rubber-burning action drama. Manuel "Smoke" Galloway (Laurence Fishburne) is the leader of the Black Knights, an underground motorcycle club. Smoke, like most of his fellow Knights, is a successful white collar worker who can afford fancy leathers and top quality bikes, and Smoke has earned a reputation as the "King of Cali," willing take on anyone in a drag race, legal or no. Kid (Derek Luke) is a gifted young rider whose father was once Smoke's mechanic; when Kid's dad died after an accident, Kid set out to become the best biker he could be to carry on his father's name and reputation. Smoke, however, has no room in the Black Knights for Kid, and so he and several fellow outcast riders start their own club, the Biker Boyz, and challenge Smoke to prove once and for all who is the fastest rider on the scene. With its roaring animated menus and high-speed extras, DreamWorks Home Entertainment brings Biker Boyz to DVD with a sharp widescreen (1.85:1) picture and stellar Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, along with Dolby Surround and DTS Surround tracks. Features include a fairly large amount of deleted scenes, some which lengthen Lisa Bonet's screen time a tad, while others include a dropped plot line with nitrous tanks between Laurence Fishburne and Djimon Hounsou. On the disc as well is the featurette "Behind the Action," hosted by funny man Orlando Jones, featuring interviews with the cast and crew. English and French audio tracks are included, as well as English, French, and Spanish subtitles. Production notes, cast and crew bios, and a photo gallery are also on the disc for those interested. Previewed in the sneak peeks section are trailers for Old School, Head of State, =The Fast & Furious Tricked Out Edition DVD, and Deliver Us From Eva, though there's no sight of an original Biker Boyz trailer anywhere on the disc -- which is funny since the rest of the DVD is so stacked. A nice release overall, though one would question the exclusion of the trailer, especially when DreamWorks threw it on a few of their other DVD titles released at the same time. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
