Young DVD viewers will surely be looking for
Piglet's Big Movie on the movie shelves. The 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer is full of lively, familiar colors. The animation is reproduced delightfully, and there aren't any distracting elements, making it an equal representation of the theatrical print. The 5.1 English Dolby Digital track is also nicely done. While it's not too surprising that there's really no use of the surrounds, the overall sound elements, from dialogue to effects, are nonetheless strong and clear throughout. The supplements offered are quite clearly made for the younger set. In addition to DVD-ROM coloring pages, three separate sections are included: a game called "Piglet's Book of Memories," a collection of stories entitled "The World According to Piglet," and a singalong so kids can join in on the many songs from
Carly Simon. Finally, as is the case with most Disney titles, there are a number of theatrical and home video "sneak peeks," this time consisting of
Brother Bear, =The Lion King Special Edition, and the =Sleeping Beauty Special Edition, among others. While not in the same "league" as The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, this is still an entertaining film and a nice enough disc to keep the children entertained. ~ Trent Fordham, All Movie Guide
