DVD Synopsis

A remake of the 1992 British film of the same name, the made-for-cable Framed begins as New York cop Mike Santini (Rob Lowe) is vacationing with his family in the Bahamas. By chance, Santini spots another "tourist": Eddie Meyers (Sam Neill), a high-profile fugitive mobster and a key player in a major money-laundering scheme. Once Santini collars Meyers, he is surprised at the mobster's friendly acquiescence; in fact, Meyers requests that Santini, and Santini alone, interrogate him once they are safely ensconced in a secluded New York compound. What follows is nothing less than a prolonged seduction, with Meyers using every resource at his disposal -- money, women, lavish gifts, luxurious mansions -- to corrupt the heretofore incorruptible Santini. The American version of Framed first aired April 13, 2003, on the TNT network. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Editorial Review of DVD

Warner issued the DVD for this TNT original movie. The image, which is anamorphic and framed at an aspect ratio of 1.85:1, is unquestionably the disc's high point. Colors are nicely reproduced, and detail is about as strong as a movie made for television will get. Flesh tones also look quite good. The transfer is rather decent, considering the differences between theatrical and televised presentations. The sound, which is only a Dolby Digital two-channel track, is the greatest indication that this film was made for the small screen. While dialogue is clear, there is no use of the surrounds, even in some of the more elaborate scenes that could have used a wider sound field. Things don't get any better when it comes to supplements, as there are none. In this day and age, when even the smallest, straight-to-video title might have a number of extras, it's surprising not to find anything. A commentary from director Daniel Petrie Jr. or stars Rob Lowe and Sam Neill, or at least a featurette, would have been nice, but are not present. Therefore, if you missed this cat-and-mouse thriller when it aired on cable, now is your chance. Just don't expect a lot in return. ~ Trent Fordham, All Movie Guide
