The New Line Platinum Series continues to impress with its release of 1999's
The Corruptor. Other titles in this series have boasted superior audio/video transfers and an impressive array of supplemental features, and this one is certainly no exception. The nicely animated menus feature a full-length commentary by directory
James Foley as well as the music video for
UGK's "Take It Off" from the film's soundtrack, as well as "From the (Under)Ground Up," a lengthy, detailed "making of" special. Also featured is the film's original theatrical trailer and several DVD-ROM supplements, including a printable copy of the screenplay with direct links to that particular chapter of the film and special websites.
The DVD is visually impressive, with a wide range of vibrant colors and nicely balanced flesh tones. There is no pixellation or artification to be found, and the film's dark scenes are strongly mixed, with no grain. The soundtrack doesn't disappoint either, with a very crisp 5.1 digital mix that is bass-heavy in all the right places and yet subtle enough to clearly convey the film's whispered dialogue and ambient sounds. ~ Andrew Hercock, All Movie Guide
