DVD Synopsis
Bob Odenkirk and David Cross stretch one of the characters from their HBO comedy sketch series Mr. Show into a full-length feature with Run Ronnie Run!. Ronnie Dobbs (Cross) becomes a media celebrity when he becomes the star of his own show ("Ronnie Dobbs Gets Arrested"). On this premise, the writers (and director Troy Miller) hang a series of pop culture spoofs. Among the targets are Mandy Patinkin, the television series Cops, and Survivor. South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker make a cameo appearance. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide
Tailor-made for Mr. Show fans who just won't take Bob Odenkirk and Dave Cross' advice to let sleeping dogs lie, New Line Home Entertainment's release of their troubled reality television parody arrives on DVD in fine form. Presented in 1.85:1 widescreen, the image is crisp and the colors vibrant, with accurate skin tones and no notable edge enhancement or digital artifacting. Accompanying audio tracks are offered in both English Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround, and while the 5.1 track is of course a bit more dynamic, viewers certainly won't be missing much of they opt for the Surround track. Perhaps unexpectedly, it's the inclusion of some tempting extras that will really have Mr. Show fans coming out of the woodwork to pick up this DVD. In addition to some notable deleted scenes (including a heartfelt coda that ultimately landed on the cutting room floor) a music video from Three Times One Minus One is sure to leave fans laughing. While it may be a far cry from what Mr. Show fans were hoping for, cheers to New Line for finally getting this troubled flick off of the shelves and into Mr. Show fans' collections where it should be. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
