An ill-conceived bet has dire consequences on the love lives of three old friends in this comedy featuring an early performance by Saturday Night Live superstar Will Ferrell. Nick, Al, and Les haven't had much luck in love lately, and when each member of the inseparable trio agrees to place 2,000 dollars in a bank account with the resulting prize going to whomever can live with a member of the opposite sex for three months, it seems as if the only way to go is up. Matters are complicated when Nick uses an old college girlfriend to hoodwink his friends and win the cash, Al has a series of increasingly disastrous dates, and Les enters into a potentially dangerous relationship with a suspected gangster's moll.
