One of many post-apocalyptic science-fiction films which poured out of Europe in the wake of George Miller's Mad Max, this film stars Stefania Girolami as Anna, who runs away from her wealthy but obnoxious family into the surrealistic biker gangland of the Bronx. There, she meets Trash (Marco de Gregorio), part of a gang called The Riders, and soon falls in love with him. Problems arise when Anna's father (Enio Girolami), president of the evil Manhattan Corporation, sends in a psychopath named Hammer (Vic Morrow) to stir up trouble among the rival gangs, including a black club led by Ogre (Fred Williamson) and a rollerskating group led by Golem (Luigi Montefiori). Castellari's direction is surprisingly stylish and exciting, but all of the hyper-macho posturing eventually grows tiresome for anyone over fifteen. Still, undemanding viewers will have a good time, as the action keeps coming fast and furious, laced with suitably hardbitten dialogue by director Enzo G. Castellari, Elisa Livia Briganti and Dardano Sacchetti. A minor classic of testosterone cinema, followed by several sequels starting with Fuga dal Bronx (1983). ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

Hot on the heels of its =2019: After the Fall of New York release, Shriek Show (courtesy of Media Blasters) proudly brings you the second entry in the Post-Apocalyptic Collection: Enzo Castellari's classic Italian actioner =1990: Bronx Warriors. With a brilliant painted cover and eye-popping extras, the disc is perfect for those who love their wastelands littered with motorcycles and bare-chested macho heroes. Presented with a brilliant 2.35:1 widescreen picture (enhanced for 16 x 9 TVs), The Bronx Warriors has been given a massive face-lift that's miles above the now substandard video copies schlock enthusiasts have proudly displayed for years. The Dolby Digital audio is quite basic, but works for the film and, given the various pops in the soundtrack, make for a perfect viewing experience of this low-budget gem. Extras begin with a sit-down commentary with the director and a few of the Shriek Show employees that, while mildly sporadic in its amount of conversation, should give the viewer some insight into Castellari and his means of filmmaking (something that's built upon in his separate interview segment in the Special Features menu). The gold of the disc comes in Fred "The Hammer" Williamson's 40-minute interview, in which the blaxploitation star discusses in-depth his low-budget years in Italy. From his eye-opening remarks on Lucio Fulci to his trademarked thin cigars that come straight from his private plantation, he's a one-man hype machine whose juicy tales should not be missed. Rounded out by a slew of trailers and an extensive photo gallery, this surprisingly packed disc makes for a fine package that will surely leave you salivating for a similar disc of the sequel, Escape From the Bronx. If you're into the cheap and violent Italian post-nuke flicks, there's no excuse for you not to have this on your shelf. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
