Travel back to the Wisconsin Democratic Primary between Kennedy and Humphrey with this very first candid view of a Presidential primary. ~ All Movie Guide
Editorial Review of DVD
This celebrated documentary -- in which the filmmaker followed a young Senator from Massachusetts named John F. Kennedy as he campaigned against Hubert Humphrey in the 1960 Wisconsin presidential primary -- arrives on DVD for the first time in a well-appointed edition. Primary has been transferred to disc in its original full-screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo. The film is in English and no multiple-language options have been included. Bonus materials include a commentary track featuring director Robert Drew and cinematographer Richard Leacock; a short featurette on the making of Primary with interviews with Drew and Leacock as well as fellow ground-breaking documentarians D.A. Pennebaker and Albert Maysles; and another short profiling Drew and his career in filmmaking. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
