DVD Synopsis
This dark horror film begins with the grisly spectacle of 54 Japanese schoolgirls jumping in unison into the path of an oncoming train. This is only the first in a wave of mass suicides that sweeps across Japan, baffling the police and panicking the populace. The two police officers assigned to the case have to piece together such mystifying clues as a website seems to be predicting each wave of deaths, a coughing child who periodically calls them with enigmatic tips, and a coiled rope stitched out of human flesh. All of it may or may not have to do with a prepubescent all-girl pop group whose latest hit single seems to have hypnotized the nation. ~ Tom Vick, All Movie Guide
If you're a fan of Japanese cinema depressed about the lack of edgy new titles finding their way to the states, cheer up, TLA Releasing's release of the popular black comedy Suicide Club has finally landed on U.S. shores! Featuring a letterboxed presentation of a 1.85:1 image, the picture unfortunately shows distracting signs of compression artifacting, despite sporting solid colors and even skin tones. Edge enhancement is virtually nonexistent, though the wavering image is a bit distracting, even in the nighttime scenes. While most fans will simply appreciate TLA's efforts to import this title for their enjoyment, those with high-end audio/visual systems are certain to notice the flaws in the transfer. The only extras offered are a brief image gallery and four TLA Releasing trailers. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
