DVD Synopsis

In this comedy from director Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans), Brittany Murphy stars as Molly Gunn, the daughter of a dead rock star, who lives off her inheritance and has never worked a day in her life. When her father's estate is swindled away from her, Molly suddenly finds her life of luxury and excess pulled out from under her. Begrudgingly, she decides that she has to get a job and is hired as a nanny for Ray Schliene (Dakota Fanning), the daughter of record executive Roma Schliene (Heather Locklear). At first Molly can't shake her spoiled-brat personality, but eventually she and Ray discover that they have a lot in common and a strong bond is formed. Jesse Spencer plays Molly's boyfriend, and Donald Faison, who previously worked with Murphy in Clueless, plays another record executive who offers Molly a place to live until she gets on her feet. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide

Editorial Review of DVD

Whimsical and sweet, this film made no waves at the box office, but seems far more appropriate for home video, where it should find greater success. As for the DVD, the 1.85:1 picture, which is enhanced for widescreen televisions, is the highlight of the disc. Colors are bright and warm, and detail is exceptional. The fantastical look of New York envisioned by director Boaz Yakin is nicely realized on this transfer. As would be expected for a recent release, with some minor exceptions, there aren't any distracting elements to be found. The sound doesn't fare quite as well; it's not that it isn't intelligible, but this dialogue-based romantic comedy never takes advantage of the 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack. Some separation can be found, but can just as easily be missed. As with the sound, the added features are good, but nothing exceptional. Two featurettes, "The Lowdown on Uptown," a fluff press kit at best, and "Rockin' Style," a look at costumes with their designer Sarah Edwards, are also included, as are 13 deleted scenes. In addition, a music video for "Time" from Chantal Kreviazuk, a standard photo gallery, and the theatrical trailers for this, Legally Blonde 2, Heartbreakers, and A Guy Thing are included. If this charming little film was missed in the theaters, then this DVD is a perfect way to see it in the comfort of your own home. ~ Trent Fordham, All Movie Guide

I didn't really like this movie.
The endding was cute, but the whole movie was a little lame.
There where some funny parts with a baby pig and stuff.
But other than that it's just O.K.

This is a very sweet and uplifting movie. An 8 yr. old and her nanny finally get along , after a strenuous battle of wit and will. It seems the youngster almost never sees her famous mother and her father is dying. The nanny is empathetic and sympathetic, but is incurably optimistic and full of fun. She finally wins over the little girl's wall of protection. I really liked this movie . The ending is fantastic.
