Goodbye, Mr. Chips, based on James Hilton's novel, is a melodrama about a shy British teacher named Mr. Chipping (Robert Donat) who devotes his life to teaching "his boys" after the death of his lovely, energetic American wife Katherine (Greer Garson). Told via flashbacks, the film features an aged Mr. Chipping looking back nostalgically at his long career, taking note of the people who've touched his life over the years. Robert Donat won an Academy Award (as Best Actor of 1939) for his performance in this heartfelt drama, which has been given a quality presentation for its DVD release. Goodbye, Mr. Chips has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Mono. Along with the original English soundtrack, this edition also includes a dubbed French-language track, as well as optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish.
