Editorial Review of DVD

A single mother and her teenage daughter attempt to run a quiet Connecticut inn while maintaining their close familial bond in Warner Home Video's release of the first season of the popular series Gilmore Girls. Presented as originally aired in 1.33:1 full-frame, this release also offers audio rendered in closed-captioned English Dolby Digital Stereo with optional English, Spanish, and French subtitles. True fans of the series can take a peek behind-the-scenes with the documentary "Welcome to the Gilmore Girls" before exploring "Gilmore-isms" and checking out deleted scenes and a pop-up trivia feature on the episode "Rory's Dance." ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

I love this show! The beginning is a little slow and you can see the lack of experience with Alexis Bledel but as time goes on, she really gets into the Rory character and becomes someone you can enjoy watching. I have missed this show and am glad to finally have rewatched it with the dvds.

I just finished watching the first season, I love it and can't wait to start on the second season. Lorelai, Sookie and Michel are so quirky and fun for me to watch. The writting is clever and witty. Very few shows make me laugh out loud but I find myself doing just that with GG. I also love that Jared Padalecki is on this show. Bonus! (I fell in love with him on Supernatural)And although the show overall is really great for me, one thing that bothers me is Rory. Something seems a little off about her to me and I can't decide if her character is supposed to portray that image or if it's in part due to bad acting.

ETA: I think I've pinpointed what about Rory that bothers me. Her character tries to be witty and fun like the character of her mother, Lorelai, and to me, she just can't quite pull it off. It seems a little fake or forced to me. If you love anything about this show, keep watching cuz by the last season Rory really becomes her own "person" and rounds off the whole GG dynamic well.

I just have to say first of all that I'm sad that the last season is over...I have all the seasons on DVD and I watch the re-runs on ABC Family and I catch a new joke every time! they are so witty, there is so much pop humor in these shows and the quirky town characters...I just love this show!
