Straight from
Roger Corman's vaults comes the second flick in the
Eye of the Eagle film series. As with the rest of New Concorde's =American Valor: The Vietnam Collection releases, the disc's 1.33:1 full-frame picture and lone stereo track looks and sounds like the best VHS copy you've seen -- which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Flicks of this caliber have been known to work better this way, whether they have a Digitally Mastered stamp on them or not (this one does). Bonus features include the theatrical trailer, along with an explosive collection of war cheese from B-movie maestro
Cirio Santiago, including
Eye of the Eagle, Eye of the Eagle III and his latest war epic,
When Eagles Strike. With the extra bonus of those trailers, mixed with the fact that they even bothered to track down the Eye of the Eagle II one in the first place, this DVD is a perfect fit for a flick that doesn't quite deserve anything more. With the original poster art intact on the cover, New Concorde has issued a cheap, but still fun, DVD that should woo the fans of cheap, late '80s war cinema. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
