DVD Synopsis

Directed by Nick Cassavetes, this adaptation of author Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel revolves around Noah Calhoun's (James Garner) regular visits to a female patron (Gena Rowlands) of an area nursing home. Rather than bore her with the inanities of everyday life, Calhoun reads from an old, faded notebook containing the sweeping account of a young couple (Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams) whose love affair was tragically put to a halt after their separation in the midst of World War II. Seven years later, the couple was reunited, and, despite having taken radically different paths, they found themselves unable to resist the call of a second chance. The Notebook also features Joan Allen, Sam Shepard, and Kevin Connolly. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

I LOVED this movie. It completely engrossed me, and I was fully in the thick of it for weeks afterward! Even still, when I think about it, I'm filled with an overwhelming sense of .... I can't even describe it! It was the most romantic movie I think I've ever seen, and the presentation and emotions portrayed were amazing. Overall, it is now one of my top favorite movies, perhaps my #1 favorite. I'm definitely keeping it so that I can watch it again!!

This is one of the best modern romantic movies I have ever seen. It is my all favorite movie. If you like romance, it is required that you see this movie. This one will stay in my personal collection.

I got this movie because I love the chemistry between the two main characters. There are plenty of romance or stories out there, but for me the chemistry between characters is most important. Are they believeable and true? This movie is great. I seen it before and loved it and had to get one for my library.

This is really an outstanding movie. I'm a veteran police officer, a regular "tough-guy", but even for me a few times dust or something got in my eye while watching this...

This movie is a must see. It will make you smile, laugh and cry as it envelops you in its story. You will feel happy, sad and ecstatic throughout the ups and downs of this movie. You really do fall in love with the characters and find yourself begging for things to turn out right. This is a movie you can watch over and over and never find yourself tired of it. It is one of my favorite movies that I plan to enjoy for years to come.

For anyone who has never read the book this movie is based off of, that is a must read too. It's by Nicholas Sparks and has the same title, "The Notebook". The book has a lot of moments that the movie left out and it will quickly become your favorite book as well.

A well told story that will withstand the test of time!

I just saw this on TV the other night and was immediately drawn to it..amazing since I usually don't watch much TV as hubby usually has sports on. He had gone to bed and this caught my attention while I was surfing for the latest weather update. I sat down and became lost in the story. It makes you happy and sad at the same time. It also makes you wonder...what would you do if given 'another chance' with someone in your past and what and how would you deal with your loved one if they started down the dark path of memory loss.
This is as good as my all-time favorite "Bridges of Madison County".
