DVD Synopsis

After suffering the humiliation of being given the third degree by his girlfriend's father, one man now faces the even more embarrassing task of introducing his own mother and father in this star-studded sequel to the box-office smash Meet the Parents. After getting off on the wrong foot (to put it mildly) with his prospective in-laws, Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) has finally won the grudging approval of Jack and Dina Byrnes (Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner) to marry their daughter Pam (Teri Polo). But after clearing the first hurdle, now Greg has to face an even bigger challenge -- introducing the straight-laced Byrnes family to his folks, free-spirited sex therapist Roz (Barbra Streisand) and eccentrically open-minded Bernie, who blend with Pam's parents not quite as well as oil and water. Meet the Fockers was directed by Jay Roach, who handled the same chores for Meet the Parents. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Editorial Review of DVD

Meet the Fockers, the most successful live-action comedy ever at the time of its release, debuts on DVD with a variety of extras that will not disappoint those who enjoyed the feature-heavy release of Meet the Parents. In addition to a commentary track recorded by director Jay Roach and editor Jon Poll, four featurettes offer a behind-the-scenes look at various aspects of production. One follows the propmasters as they create the "manary gland." This disc offers viewers the chance to experience an extended version of the film that contains scenes that were trimmed from the theatrical release. A disappointing blooper reel has been included as well. The film is presented in a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English, French, and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. This is a solid presentation of a huge box-office hit. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

Unlike some other reviewers, I liked this movie better than "Meet the Parents," the first of the two in the series. (You don't need to have seen that one to enjoy this one; the movie can stand alone.) I think it's better than the first because of the ensemble acting. Streisand and Dustin Hoffman both add a lot of the humor and I LOVE their characters. I like how father & son Stiller & Hoffman learn to understand & respect each other more by the end of the film. Some of the movie's just a little too silly, but it IS funny and engaging.

Absolutely hilarious, and while there was some adult themed comedy, the language is decent.

Funny, but not as good as the first one! I think the movie previews showed pretty much everything in the movie that was funny.

This is a very funny movie about two sets of parents of an engaged couple who clash at every opportunity. Robert, a retired CIA operative, is shocked at Barbara Streisand being a sex therapist. He hates Dustin kissing him!! Barbara sets out to instruct Robert's wife on fix their sex life.
Dustin and Barbara are like hippies and are extremely open about their sex life.

This is a very silly movie. I have to say that it isn't up there with the first one. However, Dustin Hoffman is funny in his own right.
