Lower Level is a glossy, but uneven thriller in which a wealthy, unhappy woman becomes the obsession of a security guard who reads her secret journals and becomes obsessed with her sexual fantasies. Hilary (Elizabeth Gracen) is an architect who has a lover who will not commit to her and she pours out her frustrations into her diary where she begs for her dream lover to rescue her. Craig (Jeff Yager) reads the diaries and takes her fantasies literally as he decides to become the man of Hilary's dreams. Director Peterson gets bogged down by several plot cliches and a highly unsatisfactory ending.
