DVD Synopsis

When deadly meteorites start striking the calm, peaceful community of Berkeley, Australia, a ragtag group of strangers fight for their lives against a hoard of red-blooded zombies that have mysteriously infected the residents. Headed by the town's ex-beauty queen Rene (Felicity Mason) and the village kook, Marion (Mungo McKay), the clan of survivors battle their way through farmhouses, bomb shelters, and back roads until they are faced with a much bigger problem than just the gut-munchers on their trail. The debut feature of writer/directors Michael and Peter Spierig, the film was two and a half years in the making, echoing other no-budget splatter epics like Peter Jackson's Bad Taste and other similarly themed sci-fi horror romps. For fans of the genre, you'll love this movie. The cast is unknown to most Americans, but it's a good zombie spin. One of the guys appears almost invincible, pulling guns out at times when you can but wonder where he stashed them. It will give you a pretty good chuckle. Do not go into watching this movie expecting it to be completely serious, or you will hate the movie. It's meant to be enjoyed, laughed at, and even snickered over. For me, it did it's job!

A fairly decent zombie flick - made in Australia. Meteors fall from the sky and a stinging rain begins. Soon after, the dead start rising and eating the living. All of that is the same old deal but this movie is a laugh riot in some parts. There's the dark stranger with a double shotgun weapon who can jump up, stick his spurs in the wall and shoot zombies, then there's the pregnant waitress and her husband and don't let's forget the local beauty queen. There's a lot of blood and gore but don't let that spoil your fun. Believe me the bits where the survivors are not taking themselves too seriously are the best in the movie.
