DVD Synopsis

Based on the animated series by Peter Chung, Aeon Flux imagines a future in which 99 percent of the world's population is killed through industrial disease, and the survivors live in a single city that, despite utopian appearances, is quite totalitarian. Disinclined to embrace any particular ideology outside of a hatred for Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas), the leader of the council that governs the walled city, hyper-sexualized assassin Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron) seeks to bring about a revolution. Aeon Flux is based on the animated series. It’s stylized, futuristic action/adventure . Aeon Flux(the title character, played by Charlize Theron, is essentially a female James Bond The action takes place in the year 2415, four centuries after a virus nearly decimated the human race, leaving only five million survivors in a utopian city called Bregna. Aeon belongs to a secret rebel resistance force that is struggling to destroy the Goodchild regime Trevor Goodchild (Martin Csokas), the ruler of Bregna and a descendant of the man who found a cure for the deadly virus. As instructed by the Handler (Frances McDormand, Aeon is assigned to assassinate Goodchild, but there are deeper secrets. A Polished visual science fiction movie. Does not completely follow the orginal animated version.

More than anything else, a visually fun movie. The storyline is pretty good, but the costumes and special effects are great, as is the soundtrack. Lots of action, adventure and tension. But still, most memorable because it is a feast for the eyes. I would think that men especially will find Charlize Theron in spandex not too hard to take... She cuts a very athletic, very solid, sexy figure.
