DVD Synopsis
Pregnant 17-year-old Novalee Nation (Natalie Portman) runs away from her Tennessee home toward the bright lights of California, accompanied by her boyfriend, Willy Jack Pickins (Dylan Bruno). But Willy gets cold feet and abandons her at a Wal-Mart in Sequoyah, OK. Novalee's life savings amount to $5.55, so she moves into the Wal-Mart, sleeping there at night and venturing out during the day. With the help of the eccentric Sister Husband (Stockard Channing), and Lexie Coop (Ashley Judd), a nurses' aide, Novalee tries to get her life in order for the sake of her expected child, Americus Nation. Based on a novel by Billie Letts, Where the Heart Is also features Keith David, Joan Cusack, Richard Nance, and Heather Kafka. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
Matt Williams' quirky coming-of-age film Where the Heart Is makes its way to DVD with a solid 1.85:1 widescreen anamorphic transfer. There is an English soundtrack in Dolby Digital 5.1 as well as English and French tracks in Dolby Digital Surround; subtitles are available in both English and Spanish. In addition to a variety of theatrical trailers and television promotional spots, the disc contains the music video "That's the Best of a Heart" by the Warren Brothers featuring Sara Evans. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

This is an excellent movie, very entertaining, and the actors are very good. I watch this movie over and over again.

This is one of those movies that makes you feel like anything is possible because things work out so great for Natalie Portman in the movie...and started off so bad. It also makes you realize that the "stranger" people in life are still some of the ones most willing to lend a helping hand. It's a great feel-good movie.

This is such a sweet movie, I know it has "chick flick" written all over it but this truly is something worth watching.

Love this movie! I mean it just has a lovey dovy vibe to it and a natural romance story.

It's a heartwarming story. Great cast. The story draws you in and takes unexpected twists and turns. Even my husband (not a chick-flick kinda guy) liked it.

I didnt like Natalie Portman in Closer. I cant say I like her all that much as an actress, so I wasnt prepared to love this movie so much. It moved me. It made me cry a few times. It was very very well done. You loved all the characters. The music is good. It has a similiar feel to it that Ya YA sisterhood had.
