I buy some of my DVDs used from Movie rental places like Movie Gallery and Blockbuster.  I was considering posting one and I saw it has some transparent sticker-label on top of the DVD that says "Property of Movie Gallery - Do Not Remove."  I bought it legally, but I'm afraid there might be concerns/confusion like some people have w/ ex-library books on PBS.  Should I post it and warn anyone who requests it, or what?

Hmm... good question.  I would think it's ok if you bought it legally; after all, all (or almost all) of the dvd's traded are gonna be used....  maybe just like the library books, people would have to post conditions that they don't want old rentals.....  that would be my idea anyway.

Since it's yours now could you remove the sticker?

I posted one that was a library discard (works just fine...we watched it alot) and just took off any of the stickers I could.  There still are some markings and stickers on the outside but as far as I know those are allowed so it shouldn't be a problem...I hope!

I don't think I can.  It cover's the entire top of the DVD, and I'm afraid I would end up ruining it.  I think I'm going to PM anyone who requests one of these from me so they know it is no longer Movie Gallery property. The rules don't say anything against this, I was just worried the requestor might think it was stolen.

Jo- I think you should contact the beta feedback and ask them and let us know because that is a good question!

I would rather leave it on rather than risk damaging the disk even though it's on the front.  So many people buy used DVD's from blockbuster, etc. that I don't think it should be a problem leaving it on.

This was my question as well - I have a lot of DVDs that I purchased used from Blockbuster.  Many of them have Blockbuster stickers on there.  They were purchased perfectly legally, but I don't want something to think they are getting stolen goods.

I asked in the Feedback section.  Sickers are okay and there will not be requester conditions.
