Discovered another Indie theater...discovered another classic film!

Shanghai Express (1932). The first movie I've seen with Marlene Dietrich starring but it wont be my last. A great little adventure/drama/romance set in the late 20's/early 30's during the Chinese civil war. Takes place almost exclusively aboard a train on its way from Peking to Shanghai. Charming, funny, great characters, beautiful cinematography (won the Academy Award). In the running for both Best Director and Best Picture but lost out to Grand Hotel. Now I have to go check out Grand Hotel and see what I think. Hmmm...hotel vs. old train. I love trains. It's going to have to be great to get the nod over this one.

When they say "they don't make them like they used to" this is one of the ones they are referring to. Saw this on the "big screen" in a tiny little 50-seat micro-cinema here in the Twin Cities. Highly recommended.

ETA: Let's get this thread rolling again! I know I am not the only classic movie lover on this website.

Movienut, that theater of yours sounds amazing!

As for me - and I'm going to go with the "classic" criteria of nothing more recent than 1970.

Night of the Hunter
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
King Kong
Sunset Boulevard
Rear Window
Metropolis
The Searchers
Children of Paradise
Singin' in the Rain
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Steamboat Bill Jr.
Seven Samurai
Bride of Frankenstein
Rosemary's Baby
His Girl Friday
Duck Soup
Rio Bravo
Double Indemnity
Yankee Doodle Dandy
Cat People
