Tim's generous giveaway has inspired me to join in on the Holiday spirit.  Here's my offer.  The first member to guess what famous 80's movie I had an uncredited bit part in, gets a free surprize DVD sent to them.  Then the first to figure out what famous actor my brief scene was with, also gets a free surprize DVD.  OK, here are the clues:

1. It has a Stars Wars connection.

2. Was shot in the SF Bay Area.

3. I had to sign a contract that forbid me from revealing secrets before it was released.

4. There was something fowl about this movie.

Hope I haven't made it too easy.

Guess I made it too easy.  Tim, you got it right on the movie but not the actor.  Let's let another member guess who it was.  By the way, an actor can be a man or woman.

Congratulations!  Will contact you.

Here's one more clue:

I'm only seen on a monitor

Sorry, John & Beth.  Not the one.  Mel Blanc?  Don't remember him working on the film.

Hey, someone is going to get this right?  I think.

Huh?

I know the movie didn't do well at the box office but a few people saw it.  I guess it's time for another hint.

The person was one of the stars of a film about a famous composer.

Looks like Charity gets the second free DVD.  Yes, I played Jeffrey's lab assistant in the video play-back when they are checking to see what went wrong in the lab that accidentally brought Howard to earth.  I worked 5 days on that scene only to have it cut so short you can barely see me flying from the explosion.  The secret we had to keep was that Howard was a combination of  a puppet, and two different "little persons" (hope that's politically correct).  The "little person" doing the stunts was a woman.

To all that joined in, thanks.  Charity I'll send you a pm.

3 You had to sign a contract stating you wouldn'y reveal anything about the movie.

Yea, William.  They didn't want anyone telling how they were doing Howard.  It made me laugh that I had to sign that I wouldn't reveal that it was a combination of a a low-tech mechincal puppet & 2 different "little persons" (a lady doing the stunts).

By the way, Jeffrey was great to work with.  It was the smallest role I've ever had (in the biggest picture).  Usually I have big roles in small pictures.  Don't blink or you'll miss me.  My one line "Is there anything I can do to help?" was cut because the scene ended up being used a kind of flashback on a monitor.  Hey, no complaints, I got paid for 5 days work.

You've piqued my curiosity... Care to give a clue as to what other movies you've been in?

Thanks for asking.  The features I directed & co-starred in were "Deeply Disturbed", "Blood Reaper", & "Tele-Zombie".  Some other movies I've appeared in include "The Video Dead", "They Call Me Macho Woman", "Frezno Smooth",  "Steelheel", "Shadow Hunter", "This Gun For Hire" (not the b&w classic),  "A Prisoner of Time", "Curse Of The Smoke-a-Lantern", ect.  I've also appeared in Industrials, commercials & even CD-Roms (Wrath Of The Gods) to help pay the bills.

Before getting real roles, I worked as an extra in few movies including "Salvador", "Maxie", "The Johnnie Gibson Story" (TV movie), ect. as well as a couple of bit parts in "Sister Margaret & The Saturday Night Ladies" (a scene with Rosemary Clooney) and "Howard The Duck" (Read for the voice of Howard) and ended up playing the lab assistant.

It's been a couple of years since I've worked in the business. The last thing I did was a pilot for a  travel show called "The World's Greatest Amusement Parks"  that wasn't picked up.  My day job has always been working in Special Ed.  But as of January I'll be retiring and returning for a second shot at acting and my music career (that's a whole other story that goes back to the 60's San Francisco music scene).

It's been a long strange trip.

That's very cool Lory!  I have to admit that I haven't seen any of the movies that you've appeared in, but The Video Dead has been on my list since Shout! Factory released it and TerrorVision on a double-feature Blu-ray.

Good luck on re-launching your acting/music career and hope you have a great retirement!

I honestly thought Howard the Duck was very funny and theacting, even though a low budget film, was right on the money.

"Howard...." may have ended up looking like a low-budget film but it actually had a pretty big budget for the time it was shot.  If it had been a low-budget film by a first-time filmmaker instead of being a Lucas production, I think it would have done better.  People were expecting too much.

I have to correct one thing I stated before.  It seems there were actually 8 actors who played Howard.  During the 5 days I worked on it, there were only 2.

There's also another misunderstanding about the production.  I've seen reviews that claim it was shot in LA.  They may have shot a little of it there but the SF Bay Area was where the majority was filmed.  I always get a kick out of how some reviewers assume they know where films are made.  I laugh when I read reviews of "The Video Dead" stating it was shot in Kansas.  The entire film was shot in San Francisco & Marin County (CA).  Just goes to show you can't trust everything you read.
