Help Center - What if I never receive the DVD I requested?

Search Terms:

If the DVD has not been received by the 26th day* after it was marked mailed by the sender:

*35th day for packages going to or from an address outside the contiguous US

  • It will be declared Lost in the Mail at SwapaDVD, and you will be notified by email.
    • Your credit(s) will be refunded at that time.
    • The DVD will also be automatically placed onto your Wish List.
      • If there is no available copy, the DVD will go onto your Wish List as an active item on auto-request
      • If there is an available copy, the DVD will go onto your Wish List on hold.
        • You can change it to an active item/request it from your Wish List
        • We do recommend that you wait a few days for the "lost" DVD to arrive, to avoid getting 2 copies (lost DVDs are not always truly lost; they sometimes show up a few days late)
      • If this was a Wish Listed DVD originally, then you will go back into your previous place in the Wish List and will be offered the next available copy.
  • You will receive reminder auto-emails to mark your DVD received at regular intervals after it was marked mailed:
    • These are helpful to some requestors who forget to do this after getting a DVD.
    • Marking a DVD received as promptly as possible after receiving it and playing it to check for playability is essential to maintaining your account in good status at SwapaDVD.
  • If a "lost" DVD was mailed LATE, it may not actually be lost.
    • You should check with the sender of the DVD to verify that (and when) the DVD was mailed.
      • To do this, click on the transaction on the Lost transaction in your Transaction Archive to send a Personal Message to the sender.
      • Your transaction archive is available from the menu under My Account at the top of the site.
    • If the sender says that the DVD was mailed, and there is a new request in your account, you should probably cancel the new request to prevent yourself from getting 2 copies of the same DVD.
      • You can always re-request the DVD later if the "lost" DVD doesn't arrive by a week after it was declared lost.
  • When a Lost DVD is received, it must be marked received from your Transaction Archive, accessible from a link on the My Account page, or from the dropdown menu under My Account in the grey menu bar at the top of the site.
    • To do this:
      • sort your Transaction Archive by: Requested by Me - Lost in Mail - Date Requested - Descending.
      • Find the DVD in the list
      • Check to be sure the name on the right of the transaction matches the sender's name in the return address on the DVD you received
      • Click and complete the usual DVD Received screens.
