The write up on this film claims it is neither a remake, nor a sequel to the Keitel version. While this version has more of a story than the original, it still seems like a remake. I mean, it has the same title, and the first part of the movie seems identical in many scenes. Both movies also share being nearly pointless. There are a few dialogues that were amusing, but not enough to make any of it worthwhile. Too long, and Cage fails to make the viewer feel invested enough in his plight to care what happens to him by the end of the film. Both films rely heavily on shock value over compelling storytelling.
