This is a Must-Have Classic.

"I've been influenced by the master musicians on this DVD, first during the late seventies through their excellent studio recordings. And needless to say, on this live recording done in 1985, they sound as superbly grand as ever. From a Music perspective, they display excellent musicianship, individual solo work, teamwork, music as classic / modern art, ..., you name it, I'm running out of superlatives to describe their classic performance. And the recorded sound is of high quality as well. From a Camera-work perspective, very good - nothing wrong - perhaps one or two camerapersons in background view but not interfering with great view of musician with instrument. Bob James - keyboards: acoustic piano (Yamaha) / electric piano; Gary King - electric bass; Dean Brown - electric guitar; Kirk Whalum - Saxophones / Flute; Harvey Mason - Drums; and Dennis Henderson - Percussion.

(The piano introduction on Spunky almost sounds like "Snowbird Fantasy" on the 1980 album "H".

"A fantastic live performance that the audience will literally not let the band stop. Several encores demanded. Sound quality is great, especially considering that you are hearing a digital sound track originally recorded in analog. The real prize are the terrific songs and unbelievable playing skills of a team of 1st class, A-Team musicians. You will be surprised at how cutting edge and progressive Bob James presents his music. Always rich in melody and never hackneyed. The songs pull you through with a timeless sense of audience participation. Bob allows each musician to take his music in any direction they wish with complete creativity. Bob James' influence upon contemporary music is made abundantly clear with this DVD performance."

"With today new technology why do the industry continue to produce videos that are not good? This is a example of one! The camera angles is terrible! Were did they get these Amateurs from? The sound could have been much better. For a excellent artist as Bob James this production should have been top notch! Prehaps with DTS. However, the DVD show is O.K."
