Movie Reviews

You will play this all the time..

"For years I had a bootleg cassette of this show...I loved it and converted it to CD....when it came out on DVD I had to watch it and get a good sounding copy...the DVD did not disappoint....Jerry is on 2 songs and he looks and sounds great...I would say his appearance is worth the price of the dvd, except that every song is great.....its not a wild dancing in the isle dvd...the audience is quiet between sonds...it just has the quality in sound and picture that is viewable time after time..."
Too much jammin' ? no way

"I read the review by the guy who said there was too much jammin' by the guests, especialy Jerry ! This convinced me to buy this DVD. It's great, and he's right, all the guests jam based on Bruce's intensity on the keyboard. Why would you want a concert to sound like a studio disc ? They make Classic hits formats for people that want that sound."
Amazing Night on the Town

"Every Bruce Hornsby fan must own this video! In addition to the sterling talent of Bruce's piano performance and his awesome band, he has guest performances by Jerry Garcia, Shawn Colvin, Bela Fleck and other incredible performers. This video will make you get up and dance when you hear "Across the River" and "Another Day", then sit in awe with a tear in your eye as you listen and see Bruce and Shawn Colvin perform "Lost Soul" with the beautiful piano trill at the end, or watch Bruce and Jerry Garcia have a musical dialogue answering each other on piano and guitar on "Barren Ground". And what a thrill to actually watch Molo on drums! This video is treasured by me as a collector's item and highly recommended to all music lovers as well as Bruce Hornsby fans."
GREAT MUSIC VIDEO

"THE BAD: Video quality not great. HOWEVER there is plenty of white light that shines on Bruce and band members.

THE GOOD: Fabulous guest stars, music renditions, music mix, and music coordinations.

THE AWESOME: Because of the extra talent and musical instruments on board, there are some really awesome renditions. Once again a fabulous "Another Day," but that's certainly NOT the only song that comes out fabulous in this video FOR SURE!

MY PERSONAL COMPLAINTS AND OBSERVATIONS:

Not as intimate as the 1990 Rockpalast video. Not nearly enough camera footage of Bruce at the piano. I like him on that keyboard at a good angle--especially when he plays complex passages. This is so important to me, along with some nice close-ups of him. I liked the Rockpalast video a bit better in this respect, but as far as music quality and guest stars, this is really a good video. Bruce can stand alone with just an intimate band and capture full attention. He steals the show by himself and doesn't need sexy background singers or other important guests to adorn him. He has enough sex appeal in a white shirt and rolled-up sleeves halfway up his upper arm with his fingers dancing on the keyboard than his entire entourage combined. However, you will love this and have lots of fun, I guarantee it."
