Movie Reviews

A balanced look at Leonard Bernstein
John D. Kieser | 03/30/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Everyone is familiar with the popular Bernstein offerings, "West Side Story" and "On the Town" to name a few. This superb concert offers a carefully constructed cross section of the work of this gifted man along with interviews with the soloists and the Jamie Bernstein (his daughter) to provide a complete picture. The orchestra and Mr. Tilson Thomas are probably the best exponents of Bernstein's musid and the all star cast make the show oomplete. The cameo appearance of students from Julliard for "Officer Krupke" is especially noteworthy. If you have any interest in Leonard Bernstein, this is the DVD to get."

"I had seen this on PBS Television and it was wonderfully produced. The DVD leaves nothing to be desired. The audio and picture quality are perfect.
